About the Professional Senate
The Professional Senate at Eastern New Mexico University–Roswell serves as the official representative body for professional employees on campus. Guided by the ENMU System Statement on Governance and the Professional Employees Bylaws, the Senate plays an essential role in campus leadership, shared governance, and communication between staff and administration.
The Senate operates autonomously from the ENMU–Portales campus, with the authority to address matters specific to ENMU–Roswell. It is empowered to create internal committees, advise the campus President, and participate in system-wide governance through proportional representation.
As a liaison between professional staff and university leadership—including the campus administration, Community College Board, and Board of Regents—the Senate is responsible for disseminating information, advising on key issues, initiating and reviewing policies and procedures, and addressing areas of concern. Its mission is rooted in the principles of transparency, collaboration, and advocacy for professional employees.
