What is TRiO?
TRiO services are designed to prepare disadvantaged/eligible persons for successful entry, retention, and completion of postsecondary education.
TRiO services are designed to improve academic performance, increase student motivation, and facilitate transitions from one level of education to the next.
TRiO programs are now available at over 1000 colleges and at more than 90 community agencies nationwide, they provide career information and counseling, academic instruction, tutoring, and assistance in applying for financial aid.

Upward Bound
Educational Opportunity Center
The Educational Opportunity Center provides eligible adults who seek to enter or continue a program of post secondary education, with information about educational and career opportunities. Educational Opportunity Center (E.O.C.) is a federally funded program to assist adults with admissions and the financial aid process needed to fulfill educational goals.
Services provided by the program:
- Academic, Financial and Personal counseling
- Career exploration and aptitude assessment services
- Assistance with the re - entry process to high school or college
- Information on student financial assistance
- Assistance in completing applications for college admission, testing, and financial aid
- Admission and Financial Aid Preparation. EOC assists in gathering appropriate information, arranging testing and preparing documentation necessary for admission to the student's choice of trade or vocational school, college or university.
- Counseling. EOC offers motivational, academic, and career counseling. A needs assessment is made; enrollment is encouraged and tutorial assistance is provided to strengthen academic skills. EOC is committed to your success every step of the way - entrance, retention, and graduation from the postsecondary program of your choice.
- The Educational Opportunity Center assists with: GED, ABE, and ESL Enrollment. Over fifteen classes in more than ten locations offer adults assistance in obtaining a General Education Degree, Adult Basic Education, or instruction in English as a Second Language.
Educational Talent Search
Educational Talent Search established in 1991, identifies disadvantaged young people with potential for post secondary education, encourages them to continue and graduate from secondary schools and to enroll in programs of post secondary education, and encourages high school dropouts to return to school. Educational Talent Search is a federally funded program promoting academic success, high school graduation, and academic opportunities in post secondary education.

- Information on post secondary education
- Information on student financial assistance
- Assistance in completing college admissions applications and Financial Aid applications

Student Support Services
ENMU-Roswell Student Support Services (SSS) is part of the Federal TRIO Programs and is designed to help students attend, graduate, and transfer from a 2-year to a 4-year college. The goal of our program is to help students succeed in college and to graduate. Student Support Services is a college retention and degree completion program that is designed to support Income Eligible and/or First Generation, and Disabled students to reach their full potential and achieve academic success.
We provide several services, including:
- Provide academic tutoring: Math, English, Basic Computer Information System (BCIS)
- Assist students with academic advising
- Provide career counseling
- Offer guidance on college course selection
- Provide information on financial and economic literacy
- Assist students who want to apply and transfer to a four-year college
- Provide information on financial and economic literacy
- Assist students who need help completing the Financial Aid (FAFSA) application
- Eligible to participate in our 4-Year College Campus Tours and Cultural trips
Upward Bound
Upward Bound is a successful, college-based program of rigorous academic instruction, individual tutoring and counseling for low-income high school students, most of whom are the first generation of their families to enter post-secondary education. During the summer, Upward Bound students come onto campus and are involved in an intensive academic study program for six weeks. During the academic year, Upward Bound students receive academic instruction, tutoring, and counseling after school and on Saturdays. Staff follow their progress in high school and the students learn about the college application process and how to apply for financial assistance. Upward Bound is designed to prepare eligible pre-collegiate students for higher education by providing them with instruction in Science, History, Mathematics, English, Computer Science, Spanish Language, and Study Skills during the summer.
