Please note that the Nursing Program application process is separate and in addition to the Application for Admission to ENMU-Roswell. You must complete both to be considered for admittance.

Nursing A. S.
Associate of Science
The nursing program at ENMU-Roswell is an Associate of Science (A.S.) in Nursing degree program. Students in this program will take one year of pre-requisite courses and take 2 years (4 semesters) of nursing courses. The nursing program prepares students for clinical nursing practice by providing learning opportunities in the classroom and skills lab, along with hands-on application of skills in simulation and in the direct client care environment. Nurses focus on improving health outcomes and the human condition through education, practice, and service.

Application Information
The Nursing Program accepts applications twice per year:
- December applications for January 2026 start
- May applications for August 2026 start
Applications for the Spring 2026 semester will open soon!
Spring 2026 Application Date & Deadline:
- Applications Open: Monday, October 13th, 2025
- Applications Close: Friday,December 12th, 2025
Fall admissions applications will be reviewed in a single session during the week of December 15th to the 19th, 2025. All application requirements must be met no later than December 12th, 2025 to be considered for entry to the nursing program for the Spring 2026 term.
Students who are accepted to the program will be required to attend a mandatory nursing program orientation that will be held on December 22nd, 2025 at 1:00 pm. Additional details will be provided to students upon acceptance to the nursing program.

Complete pre-requisite courses

- Prerequisite courses must be completed prior to starting the nursing program

Meeting GPA minimum requirements

- Pre-requisite GPA 2.75 or greater (Pre-requisite GPA is calculated using only the pre-requisite courses)
- Overall GPA 2.0 or greater
Meet TEAS minimum requirements

- The overall (composite) ATI TEAS scores must be 58.7 or higher
- Students are recommended to complete a CNA, EMT, or Medical Assisting course/program prior to entering the nursing program. Please note that this is no longer required to be accepted into the nursing program.

Nursing Program Clinical Requirements
Nursing students are required to complete a number of rotations in various healthcare settings in every semester of the nursing program. The healthcare organizations that we partner with require specific immunizations, certificates, and testing. Clinical requirements for the nursing program are dependent on our clinical partners, and the requirements are subject to change.
All students must meet these requirements in order to remain in the nursing program.

The ENMU-Roswell Nursing Program is Regulated by the NM Board of Nursing
The New Mexico Board of Nursing serves as a vital regulatory authority responsible for overseeing nursing programs in the state. Its primary role is to ensure that these programs meet and maintain the highest educational and professional standards. The board conducts
comprehensive reviews, evaluations, and approvals of nursing education institutions and their curricula. This oversight ensures that nursing students receive quality education and training, equipping them with the knowledge and skills necessary for safe and effective practice. By upholding rigorous standards and monitoring the performance of nursing programs, the New Mexico Board of Nursing plays a pivotal role in safeguarding the quality of nursing education and, ultimately, the delivery of healthcare services within the state.
The last approval designated to the ENMU-Roswell Nursing Program was in 2019, which was the award of “Full Approval.” This status will be renewed prior to April 2026.

ASSOCIATE DEGREE IN NURSING
The curriculum outcomes for the associate degree in nursing program at Eastern New Mexico University- Roswell are derived from and reflect the philosophy and conceptual framework. Central to the achievement of these outcomes is the ability to think critically, use clinical reasoning, and to communicate effectively.
After completion of this program, the associate degree graduate will be able to:

TECHNOLOGY REQUIREMENTS FOR ALL NURSING COURSES
- Purpose: To ensure a successful and seamless learning experience, all nursing students must meet the following technology requirements. These tools and resources are essential for accessing course materials, participating in online activities, and completing assignments effectively.
- Computer and Internet Access
- A reliable laptop computer with up-to-date operating systems
- High-speed internet access to support video streaming, online research, and virtual meetings.
- Software
- Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams) is required and provided for all students currently admitted to ENMU-Roswell. Students can access university-provided services through the Microsoft 365 link in Cosmolink.
- Adobe Acrobat Reader for viewing and annotating PDF files.
- Updated web browsers (Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge) for compatibility with online learning platforms.
- Canvas Learning Management System (LMS)
- Familiarity with Canvas is essential. This platform will be used for accessing course content, submitting assignments, and engaging in discussions.
- Canvas mobile app is available and optional for on-the-go access to course information and notifications.

Frequently Asked Questions
- How long does the nursing program take to complete?
- Altogether, about 3 years from start to finish. The pre-requisites typically take students 1 year to complete. Once accepted into the nursing program, students will complete 2 years (4 semesters) of nursing courses.
- How often does a new class start?
- New cohorts begin each semester – in January and in August.
- Why do I have to take a TEAS exam?
- The TEAS exam is a test that shows how proficient students are in English, Reading, Math, and Science. Nursing students have to score proficient on the TEAS prior to being accepted into the program. English, Reading, Math, and Science are used throughout nursing, so it is important that students have a good foundation in these areas before entering the nursing program.
- How can I study for the TEAS exam?

Be sure to take the TEAS exam after completing pre-requisite courses (Math, English, Biology, Anatomy & Physiology). These courses will help students prepare for the TEAS exam.

- Use the TEAS Study Guide. The bookstore at ENMU-Roswell now carries the TEAS Study guide. The study guide includes review of content that will be tested on the TEAS, as well as practice questions.
