ENMU-ROSWELL WELCOMES NEW

COMMUNITY COLLEGE BOARD MEMBER

Tamaliah “Tammy” Lueras is the newest member of the ENMU-Roswell Branch Community College Board. At the board meeting on May 6, Lueras was selected to fill the District 3 position vacated by Eloise Blake, who resigned in March after 14 years on the board.

“I hope to be of service to the University and the Citizens of Chaves County through my role as a CCB member,” Lueras said.

Lueras has a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from West Texas State University and Master of Science in Nursing from the University of Texas at El Paso. From 1983 to 2017, Lueras served in a number of positions in the Nursing Program on the ENMU-Roswell campus. She worked as a full-time Nursing instructor from 1983 to 1997 and served as Nursing Program Director from 1997 to 2010. She also worked as an adjunct Nursing instructor from 2012 to 2017, when she retired from ENMU-Roswell.

Prior to working at ENMU-Roswell, Lueras served as the Nursery Department Director at Eastern New Mexico Medical Center. She was also a Surgical Staff Nurse and Pediatric Charge Nurse at St. Mary’s Hospital.

Lueras has extensive knowledge of NM State Nursing Education Program requirements and initial nursing licensure requirements. She also has knowledge of National Nursing Accreditation requirements, having directly participated in five national nursing accreditation cycles. In her spare time, she volunteers at the Good Samaritan Food Bank in Roswell.
