ROSWELL HISPANO CHAMBER AWARDS SCHOLARSHIP TO ENMU-ROSWELL STUDENT
Ashley Bravo is the recipient of a $500 scholarship from the Roswell Hispano Chamber of Commerce. Bravo is studying Business Administration at ENMU-Roswell. She is currently taking a statistics class this summer and will complete her Associate of Arts degree in the coming fall semester. Marcos Nava, Executive Director of the Roswell Hispano Chamber of Commerce and Mathew Martinez, Hispano Chamber Board President, met with Bravo on campus to congratulate her on the scholarship award.
Bravo, 28, graduated from Roswell High School in 2009 and earned a number of credit hours at ENMU-Roswell, but never completed her degree. She went into the workforce and has been employed at EOG Resources, Inc. in Artesia for the past five years. She said EOG encourages their employees to further their education, so she plans to earn her associate degree and then pursue a bachelor’s degree. “I hope to stay in the oil and gas industry,” she said. “There are a lot of opportunities there.” Bravo said her children, Nevaeh and Derek, are her inspiration. She is the third in her family to go to college.
Nava said he applauds Bravo’s efforts, adding that it is through education that families get better.
