The Medical Assisting Certificate Program at Eastern New Mexico University-Roswell has been awarded continued accreditation with no citations by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP).  The next comprehensive evaluation of the program, including an on-site review, is scheduled for fall of 2024.

The recent peer review conducted by the Medical Assisting Education Review Board (MAERB) and CAAHEP’s Board of Directors recognizes the program’s substantial compliance with the nationally established accreditation standards.  These standards are established by CAAHEP, MAERB, American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) and the American Medical Association (AMA).

“The medical community has been very supportive of our program.  Our graduates get hired, often at their externship site,” said Cheryl Vineyard, Director of Medical Assisting, Medical Coding, and Phlebotomy Programs.  “Our placement rate is 93 – 100 percent.  We are very fortunate to have one of three CAAHEP accredited programs in the state of New Mexico.”

“The commission commends you and your colleagues for your commitment to continuous quality improvement in education, as demonstrated by your participation in program accreditation,” said Dr. Thomas K. Skalko, CAAHEP President.
