When may I move into my room?
Students are allowed to move in on August 1st of the current school year. When you arrive on campus the day of check-in, you should proceed to the Sierra Vista Leasing Center. A Sierra Vista staff member will have your keys and any necessary forms ready to complete the check-in process.
Will I have telephone service in my room?
The University does not provide local telephone service to each residence hall room. You will need to contact CableOne, our local telephone provider. For service information call (575) 623-2391 after the student has checked-in.
Will I have cable television service in my room?
The University provides expanded basic cable service that includes a 70 channel cable line-up. Cable connections are present in the living room and each bedroom of each unit. Individual premium channels are not available.
Where will I get my mail?
ENMU-Roswell Housing Office distributes all student mail. We provide individual mailboxes for all resident students free of charge. Mailbox assignment and keys are provided during check-in. Mail is delivered Monday thru Saturday by 2:00 pm.
May I change my room or hall assignment?
The Housing Office receives requests for room changes. Requests are granted based on space available and housing requirements. Changes will not be processed until after the end of the drop and add period. Please see campus calendar for appropriate dates. The fee to change your room is $30.00 and must be paid prior to any changes.
What is not allowed in the residence halls?
No pets (except fish), waterbeds, candles, incense or any open heating coil appliances are permitted. Alcohol, drugs, explosives, incendiary devices and firearms are strictly prohibited in the residence halls.
What facilities remain open during breaks?
The residence halls remain open during Thanksgiving and Spring Break recesses. During the Winter Holiday Break, students are consolidated into specific halls designated by the Housing and Residence Life Office. There is no additional charge for staying on campus during this time.
What are some of the things I should bring?
Towels, vacuum, cleaning supplies, blankets, bedspread, microwave, small refrigerator, sheets, alarm clock, laundry basket and detergent, iron, cleaning supplies, blow dryer, telephone, television, stereo, rugs, pictures, hangers.
Should I get insurance for my personal belongings?
Check your parents personal property insurance to make sure it covers your belongings while you are at school. If it does not, consider purchasing renter's insurance.
Can I cook in the dorm suites?
No. For health and safety reasons, cooking in individual rooms is not permitted. Electric coffee pots, popcorn poppers and small crock-pots are allowed. Cooking is allowed in the apartments.
Is my dorm deposit fee refundable?
For new applicants, who decide not to attend, a request for refund must be received in the Office of Housing and Residence Life by Aug. 10 for a fall semester entrance and by Jan. 1 for a spring semester entrance. Deposit refund is automatic for residents completing their housing agreement and proper checkout.
Can I move off campus at any time?
The term of the residence hall agreement is an entire semester. In the event that a student checks out of the residence hall at any time during the Semester for reasons other than graduation, marriage, permanent military duty, student teaching, medical reasons, or complete withdrawal from the University, the student will forfeit the $150 deposit. Any room fee refund is subject to the University refund schedule.
Who do I go to with a question or problem?
Initially, you should go to your Resident Assistant (RA). Your RA has been trained to assist you and is an excellent resource person.
What is the activity fee for and how much is it?
The activity fee goes toward hall activities and it helps supply the residence halls with equipment, games, and other resident activities. The fee is $5 per semester.
Are their designated smoking and non-smoking areas?
Each residence hall is non-smoking, designated smoking areas are located outside of each hall. Smoking is never permitted in rooms.
Are the residence halls air-conditioned?
Yes, all the residence halls are air-conditioned.
What size are the beds?
The beds measure 36 inches by 76 inches. The beds are standard twin size. Regular twin size bedding is recommended.
Can I bring a computer?
Yes, you can bring your own personal computer for your room. Each room is equipped with internet access. You will need to provide your own Ethernet Cat 5 cable.
Are there smoke detectors in the rooms?
Yes. Smoke detectors are provided in each room. Monthly inspections are preformed to ensure your safety.
Are there laundry facilities available?
There are coin operated washers and dryers located in each floor of Building One. They are for resident use only. The cost is $1.00 for a wash and $1.00 for a dry - per load. Apartments are equipped with private washers and dryers in each unit.
What about parking accessibility?
Parking areas for residents are located parallel to each of the halls. Parking areas are well lighted and patrolled nightly by University security. All students are required to register their vehicles with housing office to obtain a parking permit. There is no charge for parking privileges. Only charges to replace your parking permit if lost.
Can I bring my own refrigerator?
If you wish to bring your own, it cannot be larger than 2.5 cubic feet.
How can I get a private room?
Private rooms are available at a rate of full price for the first bedroom and half price for the second bedroom. Requests are honored on a space available basis.
How many Students share a restroom?
It varies between 2 and 4 students depending on the hall and floor.
Is the room furniture moveable and can I bring some of my own?
The furniture is fully moveable or partially moveable in all the halls. You can supplement the existing furniture with your own, but University furniture cannot be moved out of your room. For specific inquiries contact the Housing office at (575) 624-7113
Is there storage space in the rooms?
Storage space in rooms is limited.
