Academic Standards dictates that students must obtain a minimum of a 2.0 GPA to remain in good standing academically, with the university. Students that do not maintain adequate academic standings (Good Standings), begin a progress of Academic Warning, Academic Probation and finally Academic Suspension.
Failure to meet either of these requirements will result in the student being issued an academic warning.
Academic Warning – Students that fall below a cumulative GPA of 2.0 will be placed on a warning at the end of that semester.
- Students will remain on academic warning until they have attempted 16 credit hours.
If the student fails to meet the stipulations of academic warning in their following semester of attendance, he/she will be placed on academic probation.
Academic Probation – Students that remain below a 2.0 cumulative GPA and have not met the 2.25 semester GPA stipulation will be placed on academic probation.
Continuing students on academic warning and probation may enroll only during regular registration periods, once grades have been posted for the current semester.

If the student fails to meet the stipulations of academic probation, he/she will be placed on academic suspension. Students suspended from the university must apply for readmission with the Office of Admissions and Records, and submit a letter to the Academic Standards Committee. For more information regarding academic suspension, call the Office of Admissions and Records at 575- 624-7142.
Academic Suspension – Students that remain below a 2.0 cumulative GPA after one semester of academic probation and have not met the 2.25 semester GPA stipulation will be placed on academic suspension.
- Students suspended for the first time will not be allowed to apply for readmission to ENMU-Roswell until after one academic semester (fall or spring) has elapsed.
- A second academic suspension will result in a suspension of two academic semesters (fall and spring) before a student may apply for readmission.
- Upon a third academic suspension, students may not re-enroll at any ENMU system campus for a period of five years. Readmission in any of these instances in not automatic.
