Special Services - Vocational Evaluations
Vocational Evaluations are offered through the Special Services Department of ENMU - Roswell. The purpose of a vocational evaluation is to determine a person’s abilities and interests and to assist the person in choosing a career and/or training program. These evaluations can be either a one-day standard evaluation or a two-day comprehensive evaluation.
A number of tools are used in evaluating an individual:
- Perceptual Learning Style Inventory
- Valpar Computer Assessment
- Valpar Work Samples
- Valpar Interest Survey
- COPS Interest Survey
- Personal Interview
- Meyers - Briggs Type Indicator Type Indicator
- And Other tests deemed appropriate
All of the above items are administered during a two-day comprehensive evaluation.
In a one-day standard evaluation, only the Valpar Computer Assessment, Valpar Interest Survey, the Perceptual Learning Style Inventory, and the personal interview are utilized.
Evaluations are conducted by appointment. A campus tour can also be arranged.
Who can Benefit from a Vocational Evaluation?
Individuals who would like to know more about themselves and their abilities can benefit from the vocational evaluation process. An evaluation can play a large role in a person’s career choice. Almost anyone can be evaluated, regardless of physical or mental condition. The Valpar System Pro3000 allows a person’s profile to be matched with more than 12,000 individual jobs (as listed in the Dictionary of Occupational Titles). The vocational evaluation is designed to help people determine the type of work they would be best suited to perform, while considering personal interests as well.
Once vocational evaluations are completed, results are reviewed with the client. Color coding of scores helps visual learners see where their strengths are in relation to specific career fields. This service is available to anyone who is interested in participating. It is not limited to students or potential students of ENMU - Roswell. However, this testing is recommended for all persons entering occupational training programs at ENMU - Roswell.
