Division of Liberal Arts - Programs

University Studies - The Liberal Arts Division offers the AA in University Studies for those students who intend to transfer to a four year college or university.  This well rounded degree program is equivalent to any usual program of studies for the first two years of 4 year colleges and universities.  It provides a basis in the academic studies needed as the foundation for a bachelor of arts degree.  It also provides a basis for tolerant and profound thought and action in a complex global environment.  Course requirements come from both Liberal Arts course offerings (English, Communications, Social Sciences, Humanities and Fine Arts) as well as from course offerings in other divisions (Math, Science, P.E., and Computers).  Plato believed that this sort of education made good citizens, and the Liberal Arts Division supports Plato in that belief!

Teacher Education Transfer - The Liberal Arts Division also offers a degree program for those seeking to become educators.  The requirements for this degree plan are in line with state requirements, and are designed to transfer well to 4 year universities and colleges that offer teacher certification and Bachelor's degrees in Education.  This program prepares those hoping to become educators to be well rounded, to think critically, thoroughly and globally.

Police Science - The Liberal Arts Division offers an A.A.S. degree in Police Science.  This degree is intended for law enforcement professionals, and is awarded to those who have successfully completed training at a state licensed police academy as well as successfully completed the 39 credit hour academic program here at ENMU-Roswell.  Courses in Sociology, Psychology, English, Math, Communications, Spanish, Computers and Criminal Justice offer a strong foundation for police work in these challenging modern times.

Criminal Justice - The Liberal Arts Division offers an A.A. degree in Criminal Justice.  This is the choice of degree for those who seek to work in law enforcement in general, including probation and corrections.  It can be a terminal degree for those who wish to begin work immediately, or it can be a transfer degree, for those needing formal training beyond the A.A. degree.  The course work required for this degre plan includes social sciences, behavioral sciences, natural sciences, the study of law, communications and humanities as a well rounded program that aims to produce mature and effective law enforcement professionals.

Media Arts - The Liberal Arts Division also offers certificates of occupational training, certificates of completion and A.A.S. degrees in all of the following - Film Technology, Animation, and Graphic Design.  The new, exciting and rapidly developing technologies, skills and applications taught within these programs prepare students for careers in the film industry and in graphic and commercial arts, publishing, advertising and communications.

Human Services - This field often appeals to those who wish to serve humanity in directly, immediately and effectively. The Liberal Arts Division offers a certificate of occupational training in drug and alcohol abuse studies for those who wish to enter the field of drug and alcohol counseling, as well as the A.A. degree in Human Services.   The A.A. degree in Human Services is the transfer degree for those who wish to pursue further training to work as social workers or as mental health professionals, or in the fields of crisis intervention, child, youth and family services.
