Housing - Checking In

When you arrive on campus go to the Leasing Center, located inside the Club House indicated on your confirmation e-mail, where your Resident Advisor will be waiting for you. Give your name and confirmation letter to the staff member.

The staff member will escort you to your room, check you in, and provide you with apartment keys. If you have not checked into your room by 5:00 p.m. on the first day of classes, your room assignment is canceled and your room reservation fee is forfeited. (Early move-in requests must be submitted in writing and received in the Housing Office two weeks prior to desired check in date.)

What to Bring
Even though the Sierra Vista Village apartments and suites are furnished, you will probably want to personalize your living space to make it more like "your" home. The following are some items you need or may want to bring to your new apartment. If possible, it is a good idea to check with your roommate to avoid any duplication, which might limit space.

  • Pillows
  • Vacuum cleaner
  • Household cleaners
  • Trash bags
  • Trash cans
  • Linens
  • Blankets
  • Bedspread
  • Hangers
  • Pictures/posters
  • Lamps
  • Chair
  • Area rugs/carpeting
  • Telephone
  • Alarm clock
  • Stereo
  • Television
  • Personal computer
  • Dictionary and other desk references
  • Personal toiletries
  • Laundry bag or basket
  • Camera

When selecting bed linens, please keep in mind that residence hall beds measure 39" x 80". This is longer than the regular twin size.

What Not to Bring

Personalizing your living space is a great way to create a comfortable home away from home. It is usually better to wait until you get settled in your room and see what your space needs are before bringing in lots of extra furniture from home.

Because of the potential fire hazard, the following items are not allowed: toaster ovens, hot plates, halogen lamps, other open element heating element appliances, candles, incense, waterbeds, pets (other that tropical fish in tanks of 25 gallons or less). Firearms and other dangerous weapons or explosives are prohibited in ENMU-Roswell housing complex. General Policies also includes more information that may help you decide to bring or leave certain items.
