EMT Paramedic Program Application
This program of study, which is approved by the New Mexico EMS Bureau and is accredited by the Joint Review Committee of EMT-Paramedic Programs, consists of approximately 1600 hours of classroom, clinical, and a vehicular internship, and continues for approximately 14 consecutive months. Admission to the program is limited. Interested students are encouraged to meet with the Paramedic Coordinator for advising. The curriculum meets or exceeds standards of the Department of Transportation National Standard Curriculum for EMT-Paramedic (1998).
The curriculum includes approximately 760 hours of didactic instruction (520 hours of in-class instruction, and 240 hours of on-line instruction), meeting or exceeding all aspect of the Department of Transportation National Standard Curriculum for EMT-Paramedic (1998). In addition to the standard curriculum other subjects included are: Vehicle extrication, street survival, PALS, ACLS, PEPP and PHTLS.
Upon successful completion of the Paramedic Program, graduates will receive course completion certificates and eligibility to take the National Registry Examination. In addition, graduates will receive NAEMT PHTLS-Advanced, AHA ACLS, Vehicle Extrication, AHA PALS, and PEPP certificates. Graduates will be well prepared to take charge of patient care in the Pre-hospital setting.
