This program is designed to develop and enhance skills of allied health professionals to teach in an allied health setting.  Course work includes general education, computer software, and instructional technology courses that provide a foundation for teaching.  All courses in the program are offered as Internet-based classes.  Students have flexibility in scheduling and completing program requirements with the Internet-based format.

So if you’re an allied health professional who wants to become a teacher or already an educator in a health program who wants to enhance your skills, this is the program for you.  CAAHEP requires allied health educators to have courses in educational theory.  This program also provides the way to address those requirements without having to attend night or weekend classes while you continue working.  In the comfort of your own home or office, these Internet courses provide a way to meet those requirements and enhance your teaching skills.

This program is offered either as a certificate program or by adding additional online courses the student can obtain an associate degree.  Students can take one or two courses or complete the entire series.

Admission Requirements:
Admission to the program requires the completion of an accredited certificate, diploma, associate or bachelor’s degree program in an approved allied health specialty.  Individuals who are certified, licensed, or registered to practice in an allied health specialty, but have not completed a post secondary program will be admitted to the certificate program upon completion of the program entry requirements.

Program Entry Requirements:

  1. Transcript from college showing completion of allied health certificate or degree
  2. Copy of current certification, licensure, or registration in allied health field
  3. Proof of computer access with Internet capability including provisions of current email address
  4. Completion of University Skills Placement Test and appropriate developmental courses, if necessary, unless applicant possesses an associate degree or higher.

See the degree plan for actual courses required for the certificate or associate degree in the degree plan section of the site.

ENMU-R has sought out exceptional instructors for these courses from throughout the United States.  Our instructors have all been educators or program directors in allied health programs with a minimum of a Master’s Degree.  Some of our educators are authors of medical assisting/allied health textbooks and have served in national positions with the Curriculum Review Board of the American Association of Medical Assistants.  All of our educators have been speakers at national conferences for allied health educators such as the AAMA.
