CAPS

What is CAPS?

College Access Program Scholarships will give every student in Chaves County schools (public or private) the opportunity to attend ENMU-Roswell after high school graduation.

How does CAPS work?

Businesses, organizations or individuals can sponsor one student, a group of students, or an entire graduating fifth grade class from a particular elementary school for $50 per student. Students will receive an additional $50 for each year of school completed through high school graduation. The ENMU-Roswell Foundation will invest the scholarship money in an interest-bearing account and transfer the funds to graduating seniors once those graduates have enrolled in classes at ENMU-Roswell. The funds can be used for tuition, fees, books, supplies, and tools as needed.

Other CAPS Guidelines:

  1. Students who do not graduate from high school will not receive the scholarship funds unless they are used for concurrent enrollment costs while in high school. GED graduates will not be eligible to use the funds.
  2. Funds placed in the account will be returned to the scholarship program if a student does not finish high school.  Interest earned in the account for each high school graduating class will be divided equally among eligible recipients from that class and included in the amount available for each student at graduation.
  3. Graduates must use the scholarship funds within two years of graduation, or they will be returned to the scholarship program. A student who does not graduate from a Chaves County school will forfeit his/her scholarship funds.
