Financial Aid - Scholarships

Eastern New Mexico University - Roswell offers a wide range of scholarships to students attending our campus. Scholarships are awarded on the basis of academic achievement, and or financial need, campus/community activities, leadership positions, and work experience. Several outside organizations also offer scholarships to area students to assist them with educational costs. Some scholarships will require that a FAFSA (Free Application for Student Financial Aid) be on file for the current academic year, and may or may not require that the file be completed.  The Financial Aid Office will post deadline dates for various scholarships offered for the school year.

INSTITUTIONAL SCHOLARSHIPS

Continuing students are not required to complete a scholarship application. The Financial Aid Office will choose recipients based on previous and present enrollment and grades. For additional information not listed here, please visit the New Mexico Higher Education Department web site.

  • ENMU-Roswell Merit Scholarship - This is a tuition and fee scholarship offered to continuing students who are enrolled in at least 12 credit hours (full time), have completed a previous semester at ENMU-Roswell full-time with a 2.5 GPA or higher, and is a New Mexico resident.  Must have a FAFSA on file, and must have unmet need.  New Mexico Legislative Lottery scholarship recipients are not eligible to receive the ENMU-R merit scholarship.  Entering high school students who complete their seventh semester of high school with a 2.5 GPA and who are New Mexico residents could qualify for this scholarship.
  • Sertoma/Chewning Scholarship - The Sertoma/Chewning scholarship was established by Mr. Robert Chewning and other donors to assist students in funding their education at ENMU-Roswell.  Applicant must be in a degree-seeking program.  Applicant must have completed a previous semester at ENMU-Roswell with 12 credit hours and 3.0 GPA.  Applicant must be enrolled full-time (12 credit hours or more).  Applicant must meet the financial aid Satisfactory Academic Policies (academic and time frame).  Two recipients will be selected for the fall semester and two different recipients will be selected for the spring semester.
  • The following scholarships require students to be New Mexico Residents, maintain satisfactory academic progress in compliance with ENMU Roswell policies, and it is recommended that a FAFSA (Free application for Federal Student Aid) be on file for the current academic year.  New Mexico Lottery recipients are not eligible to receive another tuition based scholarship.
  • McCutchen Bridge Scholarship - This scholarship covers tuition only and assists entering freshman students the first semester of college.  Must have graduated from a Chaves County high school, had a 2.5 GPA at time of graduation, and have financial need.
  • McCutchen Book Scholarship - McCutchen Book is available to students who have no source of financial aid assistance to help cover the cost of books. Applicants must be Chaves County Residents, enrolled full-time 12 hrs or more with a 2.5 GPA, and is not eligible for financial aid.
  • NM Legislative Endowment Scholarship - This scholarship is available to provide aid for undergraduate students who are enrolled in at least 6 credit hours, have a 2.5 GPA, and must demonstrate financial need.
  • NM Lottery Success Scholarship - This scholarship pays tuition only and is available to students who have recently graduated from a New Mexico public high school, accredited New Mexico private high school, or have obtained a New Mexico GED, and enroll immediately after graduation into a New Mexico college full-time (12 credit hours) and completes the semester with a 2.5 GPA.  NOTE:  GED recipients must enroll in the next semester after their last GED test date.

ENMU-Roswell Foundation Scholarships (Contact Susan Keohane, 575-624-7059 if you have questions)

  • ENMU-Roswell Foundation Scholarship - This is a tuition and fee scholarship offered to New Mexico residents who are enrolled in at least 12 credit hours (full-time), have a FAFSA on file and have unmet need.  Continuing students must have completed a previous semester at ENMU-Roswell full-time with a 3.0 GPA or better and entering high school students must have a high school GPA of 3.0 or better.  New Mexico Lottery Success Scholarship recipients are not eligible to receive the Foundation scholarship.
  • ENMU-Roswell Foundation – William H. McCutchen Scholarship - William H. McCutchen was a long-time resident of Roswell, graduating from Roswell High School and New Mexico Military Institute.  During his life he had helped many individual students with their tuition costs.  The McCutchen Trust established an endowment fund to provide ongoing scholarships to qualifying ENMU-Roswell students.  This is a tuition and fee scholarship offered to New Mexico residents who are enrolled in at least six credit hours for the semester for which the scholarship is awarded, maintain a GPA of 2.5 or better, have a FASFA on file and have a need for financial assistance as determined by the Financial Aid office.  Two scholarships awarded each fall and spring semester.
  • ENMU-Roswell Foundation – Thomas M. Coates Memorial Scholarship - Thomas Coates was a resident of Roswell for over 20 years, having moved here after a long and illustrious career with the Federal Aviation Administration.  As a young man Mr. Coates was not financially able to go to college, and it was his desire to share the results of his life’s endeavors with those who have a dream and are willing to work hard to achieve it.  This is a tuition, fee and book scholarship offered to qualifying students enrolled at ENMU-Roswell.  There are no residency requirements.  The applicant must have a FASFA on file and have demonstrated financial need as determined by the Financial Aid office.  One scholarship awarded each fall and spring semester.
  • ENMU-Roswell Foundation - Thomas M. Coates Memorial Aviation Scholarship - Thomas Coates was a resident of Roswell for over 20 years, having moved here after a long and illustrious career with the Federal Aviation Administration.  At the time of his retirement from the FAA, Mr. Coates was responsible for overseeing the landing equipment at all of the Ohio tri-state airports.  This is a tool scholarship to be awarded to a qualifying ENMU-Roswell student each fall and spring semester.  The student will be reimbursed at the end of the semester with proof of tool purchase.  Applicant must be a continuing aviation student with a minimum 3.0 GPA.  Student to be recommended by Division Chair.

Scholarships by Outside Organizations

These are some of the scholarships that are sponsored by several organizations and are not administered by the University. The donors will make the decision on the recipients and notify the school of the decision. Deadline dates availability, and eligibility requirements are subject to change. This list is not inclusive.

  • Adult Basic Education - The Adult Basic Education scholarship is awarded to qualified applicants for the fall and spring semester. Applicants must have received their GED from ENMU - Roswell within the past two years. For availability of funds please contact Hilda Pacheco at 624-7260
  • Central Valley Electric Education Foundation - The Central Valley Electric Education Foundation scholarship is available to active members receiving service from Central Valley Electric. For more details on requirements contact Central Valley ATTN: Mr. Mike Anderson, PO Box 219, Artesia, NM 88210-1200. Applications are also available at the Financial Aid Office.
  • Cowboy Bell - The Cowboy Bell scholarship is offered every academic school year. To be eligible students must be from Chaves County, be enrolled or plan to enroll full-time (12 hrs or more) in an undergraduate college, and maintain a 2.5 GPA.   • Eastern New Mexico Medical Auxiliary / Marilou Malone - The ENMMC Auxiliary/Marilou Malone group offers scholarships for deserving students who are enrolled in any health related field. Students currently holding the scholarship need to reapply to be considered. An applicant must maintain 2.0 GPA, have a verifiable need, and have clearly stated professional goals.   • Roswell Women's Club - The Roswell Women's Club scholarships is offered to all qualified applicants for the fall and spring semester. For more information, application and deadline dates come in or call the Financial Aid Office. An applicant must be enrolled full-time (12 credit hours or more) must have a semester grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 or higher and must have a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) on file.
  • The Altrusa Club of Roswell - The Altrusa Club of Roswell offers scholarships for the fall and spring semesters. The applicant must be enrolled full-time (12 credit hours or more) must have a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) on file and have financial need. Application can be obtained by calling or coming by the Financial Aid Office.
