The instructional software that we use in the Developmental Lab is called PLATO™ and we enjoy great success with it. You'll like it. PLATO™ delivers on-screen, self-paced instruction in Developmental English, math, and reading, as well as other subjects. Each learning module contains a "tutorial," which is like having your own private class taught to you on the computer screen in the lab, and follows up with a "drill" for practice and then one or more Mastery Tests. Mastery Tests usually consist of five questions, and you have to get four right to pass. If you don't pass, you can go back to the tutorial, look at examples of things you missed, and take the test again without penalty. Or if you feel as if you already know the material in that module, you can just take the Mastery Test(s), pass, and get credit for that module. You can spend as much time or as little time on any particular topic as you want. PlatoT reinforces the skills that you learn in your English, math, or reading class and points you toward success!
