Student Drafting Students Looking Over Plans Student designing with CAD

Computer Aided Drafting (CAD) has been a growing field, as the latest computer technology enhances precision and performance. The CAD field offers several areas of focus, including architectural, mechanical, civil/survey and more. Students obtain skills in residential and commercial construction, mechanical drafting and design, facility layout, design and utilization, roadwork, groundwork, surveying, utility mapping, and custom furniture design. The program prepares students for employment as designers and draftspersons within architectural firms, engineering firms, mapping of utilities, construction contractors, and government agencies. Individuals with this basic design experience provide the drawings necessary for technical communication between the various levels of people in the drafting and design process. Students will progress from board drafting and freehand sketching into 2-D design, 3-D wire frame, and solid modeling. Available classes through ENMU-Roswell also prepare students planning to transfer to a four-year university to pursue a bachelor's degree in engineering and architecture.
