Business and Science - Legal Assistant Studies
The Legal Assistant Studies program trains qualified men and women for entry into the legal profession. The program gives the legal assistant a broad background in many different areas of law.
Legal assistants are skilled professionals who perform tasks and services under the supervision of a licensed attorney. Responsibilities may include interviewing and assisting clients and witnesses, investigation, data analysis, drafting legal documents and correspondence, research, litigation support and case management.
Employment opportunities include placement in law firms, corporate legal departments, legal aid offices, public agencies, insurance companies, real estate and title insurance.
Graduates from the Legal Assistant program are eligible to take the national certification examination offered by the National Association of Legal Assistants, those who successfully complete this two-day exam are designated Certified Legal Assistants (CLA).
The AAS Degree in Legal Assistant Studies transfers into a Bachelor of Applied Science (BAAS) Degree program at ENMU.
