Deborah Abingdon - Instructor, Air Traffic Control
Commercial Pilot with Instrument Rating, FAA Aircraft Dispatcher, and Advanced Ground Instructor.
From the time I was a small child, I was fascinated by airplanes. I did my primary and instrument training in Eugene, Oregon and then relocated to the mountains of South-central New Mexico where I now reside. I earned my Commercial Pilot’s License while flying out of the Roswell Airport. For me, aviation is a passion. I try to instill in my students, that when you are passionate about what you do, it ceases to become work. I also like to stress the point that Air Traffic Controllers provide a service, and that those entering this career field must be prepared to provide that service to the aviation community and the general public. Here at ENMU-Roswell, we are fortunate to have a progressive administration. Eastern competed with many other universities to secure FAA approval for our Air Traffic Control Colligate Training Initiative program. The success of this program is important to all of us. I challenge my students. They will be among an elite
few who help to maintain the safety of our Nation’s Air System. When my students leave ENMU-Roswell they will leave with a thorough understanding of the aviation environment, they will know what it is like to work as part of a team. This success will only be achieved through hard work and dedication.
